Based in Adelaide, Claire Markwick-Smith is a designer and maker who approaches furniture and functional forms with a focus on materials and process. Working with salvaged metals, stone and offcuts, she explores construction and composition through a modernist lens. Trained in interior architecture at the University of South Australia, Markwick-Smith undertook a year-long residency in 2021 at Adelaide’s George Street Studios, where she developed skills in metal fabrication, followed by a coveted residency at Domaine de Boisbuchet in France. Her work has appeared at JamFactory, Adelaide in 2022 and at Melbourne Design Week in 2025.
